Edison Woods Based in New York, Edison Woods makes music, performance art, art installations, and theatre performances. It is the creative umbrella for Julia Frodahl, who started the project in the year 2000. The album "Seven Principles of Leave No Trace" brings a unique mix of earthy lo-fi songs and cinematic landscapes. It is a mini-orchestra comprised of vintage keys, cello, effected guitars, harmonium, violin, bass, brushed drums, bowed symbols, clanky tape recorders, and female vocals. Mixed by Mark Van Hoen (Mohave 3, Seefeel), engineered by Alan Weatherhead (Sparklehorse, Mary Timony) and with a guest guitar appearance by Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins) "Seven Principles..." maintains the band’s intimate character, but with a greater dynamic and range. One can hear the lushness of Goldfrapp, the textural subtleties of The Dirty Three, the eerie qualities of Julee Cruise, and in Julia’s voice the humble ponderings of Cat Power’s Chan Marshall. Edison Woods offers highly addictive songs of melancholic grandeur without any sign of pomposity. Just…wonderful. More info (external link) ![]() |
