Danielson

Danielson Smith from Clarksboro, New Jersey created "Danielson" as an art-school project, involving family members and friends from his childhood.

This River Only Brings Poison

From 1996, he released six albums with different concepts and monikers. Art Pop, Folk and melodramatic Songs remarked his 2006 album "Ships" that is most significant between all his releases. Again working with friends and other artists, both the well-known (Deerhoof, Sufjan Stevens, Why?) and not as well-known artists (Sereena Maneesh, Leopulde, Half-handed Cloud) - each brought his or her own skills and ideas to Daniel's songs and voice, resulting in this crowning achievement.

The band is known for Smith's squeaky falsetto vocals, innovative musical arrangements, and matching nurse uniforms, that act, according to Daniel, as 'visual reminders of the spiritual and emotional healing taking place' within audience members. During some performances Smith has "worn a nine-foot tall, hand-made nine-fruit tree to bear the good fruit,'" in reference to the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The album "Ships" is sub-published by La Chunga in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and East Europe
